Is this feature gone? I'm not sure when I noticed but I have noticed I no longer have that option. I used to get a red line underscoring miss-spelled words and could right click on them to, at least, get options for correct spelling. Now I get nothing. Confused

Is it just me or is the feature gone??

Not that I need it, of course, but others might. Big Grin

Mozilla Firefox has this as a feature and like you ... I need it!

I guess that's the question, is it a feature of Firefox and not the forum?

Maybe that's where I lost it. Had to buy a new computer a couple of months ago. IE8 is working fine, so I've stayed with it.

I believe it is a feature of Firefox; none of my IE computers have this capability or at least I've yet to find it.

Well, that would explain a lot. I couldn't figure out why people weren't using it. Then I realized I no longer had it.

So...I'm changing this from a question to a suggestion, the forum surely needs it!

Okay, I got it figured out. Spell check refuses to work on this forum.

With some of the post I can see it shaking it's head and saying "WHAT?".

I'm pretty sure that the browser that you use has little effect on your ability to spell, Wink

I use Firefox, and always check for those red underlines in my text before I post. I sometimes miss one or two, but will usually go back and edit my post if I find that I made a boo-boo.

Just an fyi Vulcan and I don't know if this is the case but the spell checker in Firefox can be turned on and off.

I haven't been around here that long so maybe this was a feature of this form but if it was that would be the first time I ever saw that and since IE doesn't have it I would assume that you may be using Firefox and if so go to tools>options>advanced and you should see a check box for "check my spelling as I type" in the General tab.

Also you usually can get that from a right click too and it should be part of the menu.

Last thing to note is that each time you have a underline word and right click it to show a list of possible options, it has a possibility to add that word to the custom library list or dictionary as its called, and if you accidentally add it, it will no longer show up as a mis-spell.

This dictionary is a file in your personal Firefox folder named persdict.dat, which if open with note pad or some other writable text program (remember to not have the always open this file with this program box checked) you can then delete the mis-spelled word from the list.

I'm pretty good with my spelling but sometimes get the "E before I" rule backwards. Frown There are 132 exceptions to this rule. Drives me crazy. Eek
