Rich being an early riser 4:30 AM EDT, I have been experiencing trouble accessing the Forum in the morning early. It is intermitent and it's only the Forum that is coming up with page not found. Is that when the new hosting service is doing maintenance?

I had the same problem from about 08:30 to 09:20 PDT this morning - so I don't think it is maintenance.

I think it is not very good that the Forum Gods aren't letting anyone know what's going on with folks not getting access for 12 hours last night into this morning, and why if you try to access early in the morning there is a problem getting access a lot of times. I notice the 2 threads that were being discussed on 3 rail forum relative to this were deleted though. Roll Eyes Eek

I, too, am wondering why the threads were deleted. And why no explanation of the meltdown. The last I saw it was just comments wondering what the problem was. And if it was experienced by others. It was obviously felt by all.

So, what's the problem with having problems?? Confused

As you probably know by looking at the web address on the tool bar, the forum is actually supported by another company, on the west coast I believe. On one of the deleted threads, I posted a link to the support page of this company. It appears other forums were affected, not just OGR, since this company's server migrations of June 17th and the subsequent "issues" the company had in the past week.

Sadly, I guess I've become thick skinned about stuff like this because my employer has farmed out alot of our IT and Data & Server Support to a "big" company so we could save a buck. Some of our support has gone overseas. Well guess what...you get what you pay for. Frown

We used to be able to call our in-house people and get things fixed in minutes any day of the week including weekends if we were on call. Now, things break for hours and sometimes days and forget about getting things fixed on a weekend if you are on call. We are constantly using work arounds Frown

Obviously in this case, OGR Publishing, Inc. is not, and should not be, in the forum hosting/web server business (beyond what is needed for their publishing and online store business) That is why they have selected this other forum support company no doubt. As a free service to us subscribers and non-subscribers, it really is between OGR and this other company to define how much downtime is reasonable for the contracted services.

Just my humble opinion...and thank to OGR for providing this free forum service..it is appreciated.

Looks like same issue today, with threads deleted also. Why not just post a message about site issue so we call will know what's going on? Wink
