James,
Back in my "selling days" I shied away from shipping outside the US for a couple of reasons. First, was the difficulty in methods of payment. I had no way to accept out-of-country checks or money orders. There isn't a bank that accepts foreign checks, money orders or currency within 150 miles of my area. The second was estimating shipping and customs forms needed. Buyers often asked me to lie on customs forms about values or content, something I wouldn't do. Others would complain about the high shipping charges, as if they were the seller's fault for some reason. I never was able to predict what forms the PO would insist that I fill out. It was always a huge, time-consuming hassle at the post office. Nowadays, PayPal has solved the payment problem. But, here on the buy-sell board, many are just casual sellers who want nothing to do with PayPal. I appreciate how frustrating it must be for you to see all the items for sale only in the US. I know also that you are well aware of the process and costs, and that you would be an excellent buyer. But I think the casual seller over here is just a little intimidated by the whole foreign sales idea. I do know that if I were selling something and you wanted to buy, I would gladly deal with you, but I would be hesitant to advertise the fact that foreign sales were allowed, not knowing who might be answering the ad. Just a little perspective from this side of the pond. Jim |

Hi Jim Thanks for that.I have in the past for sellers that would not accept Pay/pal I have sent American Express travellers cheques with out any problems,as long as I sign both top and bottom and put the sellers name in the middle, same as cash but safer for me and the seller.

For me, change that 'often' to 'always'. Michael ![]() ![]() |
