I just missed another railroading adventure because of an announcement not mentioned as an announcement. Is it possible to announce in the other forums to make announcements in the "Announcement Forum" in addition to their posting in the other forums? It is mostly because I cannot read ALL of the other forums postings (as much as I try ).
If you look at the postings, with all that went on in Altoona & Pittsburgh, Pa., Cumberland, Md., and Elkins/Cass, W.V., none were posted in the announcement forum. I and many others missed a great one in West Virginia!
Just a thought.

I don't believe it is the "moderators" job to post, though they are welcome to keep us advised, if they know of something of general interest. Those of you who think a posting on the Announcement forum that might be of interest should do so. I try to add announcements of train shows that I am aware of in my geographical area. I think the OGRR Forum was established for the use and input of thost who read it. This topic, I think would be better served if it were in the Announcement section.
I'm not asking for the moderators to post events. I would like to be known to all to use the Announcement Forum for announcements, but it is not happening. I do appreciate and thank those that do use the correct forums.

It's very apparent that this forum is underutilized with only a total of 34 topics. Even the Suggestion Forum has more. I use it and try to scan it at least once daily but the majority hang on their main interest forum. If it's something to do with 3 rail that's where you're more than likely to stay updated.
Could the Announcement forum be moved to the top of the main page above the Train Forums section, rather than at the bottom with the Misc. forums? It might prompt more use from the forumites. I know that I am guilty of not scrolling down the main page enough, and the Announcements Forum doesn't appear when the main page loads, and if I don't scroll down, I don't see it -- out of sight, out of mind.
