Why is it so difficult to post photos on this forum? Many of us are 'older' and not particularly computer literate and often unable to grasp the intricacies of resizing, cropping and whatever else needs to be done. I have no trouble adding photos to a listing on eBay or to personal email. I know how to select the 'medium' or VGA settings which are adequate for everything else so WHY NOT HERE?
The guide says the photos have to be smaller than 640 pixels on the longer side. I spent an hour figuring out how to downsize 21 photos to 600 x 450 and posted them on Photobucket. When I tried to create an album just now and uploaded 21 photos in three operations, they are STILL too big!!! What gives?

You can set Photobucket to automatically re-size your photos to 640x480. If you are using the URL from Photobucket to here, they should be the proper size.

It takes very little time to post the pics.

Email me for my phone number and I'll walk you through it. Should take no more than 10 minutes.

I never use that, it's an un-necessary step. I just paste directly into the post.

Copy and paste.

Copy and paste just the photo URL? Photobucket provides the image tags?

Yes, Matt, Photobucket provides 4 different links: email & IM ,Direct link, HTML Code and IMG Code. IMG Code is the one for forums 640x480. If you click on this it copies the code, so all you do is paste it where you want it, for me it's directly into the post.

I used to be able to do that, too - automatically copied. But, the current security and encryption software on my computers has locked out that automatic function, Frown

Is it real? Do you see it, too? We all see it. That don't make it real.

Nicky, I've never used the IMG thing in a post. I signed up for Photobucket right after I joined the forum. It's always worked for me.

Jerry, it's getting late for me, I'll see if I can come up with something tomorrow to help you out.

It would help if I could remember what the function key is for a screen shot.

Matt??

Screen shot? I use the keyboard button labeled: PrtSc or PrintScreen, then paste the image into my photo edit software.

Thanks, Matt. It was working I just couldn't figure out where it was putting the shots.

Ok, if you are using Photobucket, on the page where your photos are, if you are looking at the small photos. When you run your pointer over the photo a small drop down window should appear with the 4 different links in it. Click on the IMG Code link. The link should highlight, use Ctrl + c to copy. Then go to your post screen that you already have open and place the cursor where you want the photo and hit Ctrl + v to paste the url.

If you enlarge the photo in Photobucket ( so it's the only photo on the screen) on the left side you will see the 4 links, clicking on the IMG Code highlights the link and you will see a yellow "copied" flag briefly pop up. This means the link is copied, so you just go to your post and paste.

This shows what the url should look like once pasted into your post. Note the [IMG] and [/IMG] before and after the url, if these are not present that is why the Big red X.

Hope this helps.
