Im kinda having second thoughts now. Maybe I should have ordered the plated one and sent it our for a MR paint job, seeing as "everyone" has a green one. Wink

My only concern about the plated version would be getting fingerprints all over the thing while trying to handle it. I would probably want to wear a pair of cotton gloves for handling that monster.

I'm trying to imagine a string of plated passenger cars behind a plated Brute. Hopefully that set will come with sunglasses and sunblock.

Best,

I think Ives has that chrome engine with black and silver cars. Then the 3rd line can have the Flyer Mayflower.

My future is so bright I think Iam gonna need shades.

If the Chromate Brute non-powered ends up on blowout for $1000. I will make shelf space for it. To me the best looking one. You can even see the wheels.

That is a good thought. Where can you get those cotton gloves? I try not to get finger prints on my tinplate but I think the gloves would work well.

Keep in mind that the original was plated by Bill Vagell decades after this engine was built, and only then to stabilize the corrosive process, which had already damaged the engine. Eek The ORIGINAL color was the light state green.

Here's a link to one place, but I imagine you can also find them locally at places that might stock items for archivists and museum curators.

I believe that the Brutes were built to order...I don't expect to see any blowouts. Some dealers may have speculated on one--I don't think these will last long.

MTH is out of the Green w/PS2 version. The locator says they are in stock but they are all out. Jim Sutter checked for me. There are still some out there but I would not wait too long. About 3/4 the hobby shops I emailed were already out of their allotment.

JHL1963, I was probably on the phone with Nassau when you were there. I just grabbed their last Brute. The gentleman I talked to said that they only made 20 of the unpowered Zinc models. All of them are going very fast!!! Frank at B&F Hobbies in Rhode Island said his shipment of Brutes would be in yesterday. Might be worth giving him a call if anyone is looking for one.
