A Proto-1 loco is a conventionally controlled engine with a sound system.
DCS has no Proto-1 mode. There are 2 variable channels to control track power for conventional engines. As for the PS-2 engine. Is it loaded into the Hand held? Anyway address the engine and hit startup. Now the PS-2 engine will not be in conventional mode and sit there until you tell it what to do. You can call me if you like 315-457-3427. I will be home if you need more help. Where the trains run point to point in a circle. Jim C |

Thanks Jim, I used the wrong nomenclature. I can put the remote into a PS-1 mode. When in PS-1 mode, I lose control of the Proto 2.0 loco. The way PS-1 cycles is via the directional signals to the engine. I think that this sends a message to the PS2 engine even in command mode. I'll give you a call, thanks again!

Then you are programming the PS-1 engine with the clinks and clanks generated by the remote. Might be best to remove the PS-2 engine from the same track block, just unplug the tender cable or address the engine and startup leave it sitting there. The battery in the PS-2 engine should compenste for the on off cycling of track power.
