I have a few 610/612 Lionel passenger cars that I am going to restore. They have New York Central Lines written on them. Anyone know what was the font size and style for this lettering so that I can make the proper looking decals ? Font Size and style needed. Also for the numbers. Thanks in advance.

You might contact Joe Mania at jlmtrains.com about obtaining the correct rubber stamps, including text and numbers. In my opinion stamping - as were the originals - looks so much better than decals or transfer letters.

I have found that the font Goudy OlSt BT with the Bold button activated as found in Word Perfect comes as close as anything to matching pre war Lionel words. As far as size just pick one and print it out on paper and see if that will work, go up or down from that.
Better yet, create a text box and type in what you want and then by moving the tab on the screen you can drag it larger or smaller. After an adjustment print on paper, cut it out and see, adjust as necessary. For Logos in Word Perfect entered them on the page as a graphic and in the graphic box you car resize the same as in the text boxes. I will try to post a New York Central Lines logo I did you can use, if it does not work, email me a jms2222@hotmail.com and I will email it to you. |
