Keep picking up items for the Tinplate layout. Have many buildings etc.

I needed people. So I have been picking up figures that need a repaint and I and repainting them. All my Tinplate buildings and trains are New repeos the figured have to look that way also. I also got some plastic figure that a friend was throwing away. They are the same size so I am repainting them also.
Each York I get a few Barclay repros.
I will post some pictures soon.

One word:

BARCLAY'S Wink

(originals or repros)

NOTE: The originals are HOLLOW castings, while the repros are SOLID. The handpainting on the repros is EXCELLENT!

Sounds like a plan! Smile

I also like "shiny" (tinplate trains and Barclay figures). Smile I have purchased several originals in excellent to like-new condition. I have acquired about a dozen repro Barclays, and they are beautifully hand painted at the Manorville, New York factory. The new figures are solid cast with different paint schemes than the originals, and have a noticeable heft about them. I like both kinds, but being essentially lazy and untalented, I do not touch-up or repaint the originals. Eek

Hi Art!

All's well. Just been busy with other things the past couple years. Haven't had much time for the forums.

I hope all's well with everyone. Smile

If you go to the Allentown show this weekend there's a couple that sells cast figures at a really good price, very nicely detailed. I'm planning on buying several figures this weekend, you can never have enough people on the layout Smile

Hiya Thor! Good to see ya! Smile

Here’s a question for the gang. A childhood buddy of mine used to mold and paint Napoleonic War soldiers out of lead. Does anyone sell similar molds for railroad figures? I already mold fishing sinkers and duck decoy weights so I have everything I need but the molds if I were to give this as try.

As for historical figures for a layout, I had gotten a mold that casts three. These are Abe Lincoln in stovepipe hat, General Grant and General Lee. There was also a mold that came with a lot of ACW figures that I had gotten from Ebay: Napoleon. The plan is that when I do the Ocean Grove show in December, I will have all four of them on the platform of the tinplate Glendale Station. My wife and I are wondering how many people will recognize them.

German,

The only RR molds I know of were for a few HO figures. They were discontinued by the maker a few years ago.

They may recognize them but if they went to school during the last 10 years, they will not know their names.
