Share any and all of your favorite tinplate items. I'll start out with my first tinplate (from my grandpa), the reliable Lionel 259e...

Here are the three favorites in my household. The 248 (my wife), the 258 (my son), and the 259e (mine)....

Although I love them all, my two favorite accessories. The 442 diner and the 165 crane....

Look forward to seeing many more favs....

Lionel may have produced the most famous blue tinplate standard gauge train ever with their Blue Comet, but American Flyer was no slouch in the blue tinplate area. In 1927 AF offered their beautiful blue President's Special standard gauge set of three blue lithographed cars pulled by a blue enameled 0-4-0 or 4-4-4 boxcab. In 1928 AF introduced the striking dark blue Flying Colonel standard gauge set of three dark blue enameled cars pulled by the "ACE" locomotive, a two tone dark blue 4-4-4 boxcab. Here are the two locomotives that headed up these sets.

Here is a 300 series car made to look like a 442 Diner. I bought it on E-Bay.

A scan of a photo of part of my old tinplate collection before I moved to my current home and was caught up in the world of 3-rail O gauge modern trains.

You can tell it was a while ago from the Apple II computer below the shelves, and also from the fact that all sets were obtained straight from original owners' homes. Yes, the good old days!
