Yea, I should have put his last name, sorry.
I got some fine crushed blue stone and washed it but it doesn't look that good. I need something darker in color.

Thanks for the clarification. I suggest researching what the G-Scalers use, or maybe a trip to a garden supply store. My SWAG is limestone or granite.

Jim, No you don't need ballest, it has a built up side on it and the track sit's inside nicely. I would just like to fill up the empty space. I'm thinking about spray painting the blue stone flat black and see how it looks. I picked up some old track for the ties and after cleaning them I sprayed them with a semi gloss black. So I'd like to fill in all the empty space with ballest.

I thought that is what you wanted to do. I might be a good idea to fill with something cheap like chicken grit and top with something better. It must take a lot of fill.

Waiting for my order to arrive as it the start of the finish of my layout.
